Back the Blue K-9 Force
All funds raised at RexRun go to support Back the Blue K-9 Force.
Back The Blue K-9 Force is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the health, safety, and well-being of law enforcement K-9s. These extraordinary animals serve as an indispensable part of law enforcement teams across Colorado, playing critical roles in detecting explosives, illegal substances, search and rescue operations, and providing support and therapy in schools. Our goal is to ensure these loyal K-9s have the safety equipment, specialized training gear, and healthcare they need to perform their vital roles safely and effectively.
Your support makes a tangible difference in the lives of K-9s working to keep our communities safe. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we have already provided critical support to K-9 units in Colorado. Over the past 11 years, donations have funded:
- Acquisition of 15 police K9s
- Funding of Specialized K9 training and equipment to include K9 body armor and training supplies
- K9 Healthcare: Donations help provide regular vet care to ensure K-9s are healthy and fit to serve, specialized care and emergency care in event of illness or injury in the field

K9 Partners
Police Working dogs
Currently, all 11 K9s working for the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office were purchased with funding from Back the Blue K-9 Force. Back the Blue K-9 Force has purchased a total of 15 Police K9s working throughout Colorado.
K9 Training
K9 Training field
In October, 2021, work was completed on a brand new training facility at the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office. Back the Blue K-9 Force in partnership with the Hachmeister Family, JHL Constructors, Inc. and other community partners turned a dirt field, covered in weeds, stickers and dangerous holes into a modern, artificial turf field ideal for training K9s and other uses at the Sheriff's Office.
Training supplies
Back the Blue K-9 Force also supports the purchase of training equipment such as explosive odors, training tables, field obstacles and odor boxes so that K9s can receive the absolute best training possible and be the most effective in the field for our community.
Keeping K9s Healthy
K9 Medical Care
Back the Blue K-9 Force helps cover the cost of preventative and urgent medical care for the police working canines they support.
Protective Gear
K9 Body Armor
Back the Blue K-9 Force makes sure that patrol K9s are properly outfitted with the proper and best protective equipment available. Each of the Patrol K9s at the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office has been outfitted with custom fit, threat level II bullet resistant patrol body armor for use in the field.

Your donation today can make a huge difference in the lives of K9s and their handlers as well as the students they serve. With your help, we can support therapy dogs working in our schools. Therapy dogs help to reduce stress and anxiety in children who need it most. By contributing, you are directly supporting the needs of the K9s and their handlers, helping to ensure their success.
